I'm finally checking out the world of Android and I have to say....I'm impressed. Though the UX is hardly as clean or smooth as iPhone, as someone  that is dependent on Google apps (like this blog on Blogger), I'm loving the integration of everything.  Writing this test post from the nexus s on the Blogger app

Outside Lands Festival

Stellar weekend at the Outside Lands Festival this past weekend in Golden Gate Park. Thanks to my aunt, Kerri and I were able to escape to San Fran for a 4-day weekend in wine and music paradise. We were able to meet up with friends from near and far.

Highlights at OSL included Widespread Panic, ALO, Grace Potter. Quote of the weekend courtesy of Primus' Les Claypool - "San Fran, we're gonna knock some dust off the classics since many of them were written right down the street from here."

Claypool's quote made me think, where were all of the classic San Fran bands this past weekend? Where were members of the Grateful Dead? Where was Santana? Where were those that helped create the origianl SF music scene? They were truly missed and made me ultimately feel that this thing was too far down the path of $$ versus true roots of music and celebration.

Other criticisms include the fact that after 3 days of music, a very short half day on Friday (for the same price of Saturday and Sunday) felt like a ripoff. It was great to check Radiohead off the list, but they aren't really on my musical taste radar. Nevermind the fact that I spent 45 minutes waiting in a line for a beer missing the entire Beck set, Friday sure was a money grab.

Photo courtesy of Scherer. Taking in ALO as the first band of the day Sunday.

LLLLLoyd Carr Fan Club Gets Mention by ESPN

Mark Schlabach of ESPN, in his piece about Love/Hate in College Football, makes reference to the LLLLLoyd Carr Fan Club. Can't wait to get the "LRod" Fan Club t-shirts rolling.

LRod is Embarassing - Detroit Free Press

Headline: 'Embarrassing ordeal reveals ugly truths about "LRod" Rodriguez'. Gotta love that not only did LRod cost U of M more than $4 million, he has burned bridges every step of the way. Him and Bobby Petrino should start a club. Long live LRod. Thanks to Clifford for the link.

Chad Johnson Can't Save You on This One

The anti-Carson Palmer camapign is officially on thanks to this rapper that has layed down some serious smack talking lyrics. My favorite line "Chad Johnson can't save you on this one...." It is going to be fun watching the demise of Carson Palmer in Cincy this year. Thanks to Danny Boy for the link.

Is it football season yet?

The chick from Orange County that is a B-rated quarterback for the Bengals, aka Carson Palmer, is already fanning the flames of the upcoming Ohio State vs. USC game September 13th. This game may end up being bigger than the OSU Texas games a few years back. Definitely bigger than any non-conference games in the 90's. No one is giving OSU a shot and frankly OSU doesn't deserve respect until they can beat a top 5 team (following going 2-2 the last 4 games versus top 5 teams).

I know Carson was speaking as a fan and I like that energy, but I can already hear the boos coming now in Cincy on Sundays when Mr. Overhype Palmer goes 7-9 yet again this year.

Living in So Cal as a Buckeye fan has had its ups and downs over the past 8 years. Following a National Championship in 2002, USC was in or near the title game for the next 3 yeas and I've had to deal with the constant hazing from the folks wearing crimson and puke yellow. The Buckeyes need this win. I need this win or it is going to get even more difficult to keep the Buckeyes flag flying high on the house in Trojan country.

Given that football is now in the air, sounds like it is time to formally commence the Rich "L Rod" Rodriguez Fan Club. Shirt forthcoming. Go Bucks!

Angels in the Outfield

Long overdue adventure to Angels Stadium last weekend. Keller and his baseball team had the luxury of going on the field before the game. This was the first game where I actually witnessed the boys (Keller, Carter and Cam) actually attempting to understand the game that was going before them. Scheduled to go to a game July 4th week as well.

Family Photo Shoot = Nightmare

Have you ever tried to shoot a family portrait with 8 kids under 4 years old? Turned out to be quite a treat. Aside from the cheesy color coordination, the set-up was nice. But someone forgot to teach the kids to sit still for more than 15 seconds.

10 Oldest Bars in America

Add these to the to do list. I believe the Absinthe House is the same as Jean Laffite's - listed as the oldest on the list - recently visited during the epic NOLA weekend in early May. Not sure if I have been to any of these others....yet.
